Trail Work November 07

On November 18, the Tunxis Trail Crew cleared and painted the Mainline Trail from GWT to Punch Brook Road.

On November 25, the Crew cleared and painted the Mainline Trail from the northern junction of the Punch Brook Trail to Route 4.

The northern junction of the Mainline Trail and Punch Brook Trail is called Hemlock Hill Junction. Several years ago, the state forester managed a clearcut of the Hemlocks because an infestation of the wooly adelgid left many of the Hemlocks in poor shape. To prevent the significant hazard of standing dead trees, the trees were cut down. There will be very heavy brush along the trail until a new canopy grows and shades out the undergrowth.

Good work!

The Burlington Rambler's Blog is terrific! I look forward to hiking some of the trails and following some of the recommendations when I get a chance . . . I'd also like to journey along with any ramblers who are more experienced with these trails so if anyone is looking for additional company on weekends, post here and let me know!
